The "High Precision Read Out Mechanism. Model 2.0" from Audiomeca is  designed to produce vibration free performances and to improve the previous Audiomeca Model 1.0.

  • The great general mass (600gr), the choice of the main material (metacrylate) and the type of construction (machined parts only) damp and absorbs vibrations.
  • The first inertia axis goes through the motor disc and the lens travel.
  • The general dynamic balancing is satisfied. Besides, one can demonstrate that there is a mathematic relation between the masses of the three moving stages: lens/head/chassis (15dB between the two first and 30dB between the two last) this is to prevent any unwanted movement due to simple action reaction effect.
  • All parts precision machined on very small tolerances.
  • Large platter: the usual 30mm diameter of CDMs mini platters (see photo 2) does not provide the disc enough geometric stability. Audiomeca increased this diameter to 44mm (see photo 3). (Beyond that limit the disc table of contents cannot be read).
  • The platter shape agrees all disc profiles and is especially designed to get a one piece solid dynamic behaviour of the platter+disc+clamp assembly.
  • An individual adjustment during the assembly process ensures minimum off-centering and excellent flatness of the platter and relaxes the servo corrections.
  • Very small mechanical play in the motor movement transmission to the laser head., to increase tracking accuracy (« string belt drive » ). Shocks and rebounds encountered on the usual industrial VCD mechanism are avoided and also relaxes the servo corrections.
  • The mass of the clamp is calculated according to the disc motor and servo parameters. This complex point is very little known.
  • Many platters and clamps from the market show various kind of holes or ribs responsible of a fan effect which acts as a true vibration generator. Audiomeca has choosen simples forms only and flat surfaces only to get the smaller amount of unwanted « wind effects »
  • Despite the above precautions, the spinning movement of the disc always produces a slight horizontal wind. This implies more design attention. The Audiomeca CDM creates no extra disturbances and rotation performs silently.
  • Noiseless sledge and disc motors.
  • Audiomeca chose a Sanyo laser head which displays several advantages over its competitors. Its overall design is excellent, the mass high and the actuator perfectly balanced (very important and rare feature).
  • Tracking stability.
  • Exclusively designed for studio and High End players.

*CDM stands for CD Mechanism

** Data buffer or ring memory or FiFo: mainly a memory. Informations are stored and then released with a reference clock.
